World heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua pulled-off one of his classic performances after knocking out the durable Kubrat Pulev in the ninth round to retain his WBA, IBF, and WBO titles.
Joshua already had Pulev dazed after knocking him down three consecutive times but put on the exclamation point after connecting with a vicious right hook in the ninth round that ended the fight.
Since falling to Andy Ruiz Jr., Joshua never looked sharper and only became deadlier with his precise jabs and had more power shot setups during his previous fights.
Also, Joshua displayed much-improved footwork, switching stances effectively to negate any sort of attack from Pulev.
After proving himself against Pulev, Joshua will most likely square off against Tyson Fury to finally end the debate for heavyweight supremacy and to become the undisputed heavyweight champion since Lennox Lewis in 1999.
A few months ago, Joshua made a deal for a two-fight agreement that if he would take down Pulev, the next opponent will automatically be Fury for the heavyweight dispute.
If Joshua wins against Fury, he will now be boxing’s heavyweight king and will hold the WBA, IBF, WBO, and the WBC belt.
