Alyssa Solomon proved why she is worthy of that Asian import call-up after bagging her first Player of the Game recognition in the ongoing Japan SV. League.
On Oct. 19, 2025, the former National University (NU) and current Alas Women standout steered the Osaka Marvelous to a dominant win over Aranmare Yamagata, 25-21, 25-21, 25-16.
Solomon played her best game so far donning the bright green jersey of Osaka and tallied 13 points built from nine attacks, three blocks, and a service ace.
With Solomon’s breakout performance, the defending champions prevented a disappointing 1-3 start to the season, improving to 2-2 after back-to-back wins over the weekend.
The jump from the PHL volleyball landscape to Japan wasn’t a smooth ride for the Filipina outside hitter, after only scoring 20 points during the first three games of the season.
However, Solomon started to regain her groove as the season progressed—proof is her clinical outing off the bench that set the tone for Osaka in their upcoming scheduled matches.
As soon as Solomon entered the hardwood, the powerful spiker made the most out of her playing time and displayed her signature cross-court attacks that rained down on Aranmare’s side.
No matter how tightly Aranmare’s floor coverage adjusted in the second set, Solomon continued to weave her magic and entered an unconscious state.
Due to her early offensive outburst, Osaka’s coaching staff decided to field her longer than her usual playing minutes, resulting in the Player of the Game honors.
Solomon passed her co-import in terms of scoring during the win—Lise Van Hecke of Belgium, who chipped in 10 markers built from eight attacks.
