Team Alvin’s Fitness Center and Team Selecta grabbed huge wins during the ongoing 2022 Iloilo City Basketball Club (ICBC) annual basketball tournament second conference.
The Alvin’s squad bounced back from a loss and got the better of the Clinical dental team, 86-79, while Selecta banked on a late fiery scoring run to crush team BacFire, 92-73.
For the second-straight game, team Alvin’s figured in another close contest and went toe-to-toe against Clinica’s offense in the first few quarters.
However, Alvin’s proved to be the better team in the clutch stretch and showed they got enough gas to fend off the surging Clinical dental squad.
Gerrod Villaruz found his stroke and top-scored Alvin’s with 19 big points while Dr. Jason Ong chipped in 16 points in the win.
The trio of Villaruz, Ong, and Ken Deniega helped Alvin’s pile up their lead in the last quarter to as much as nine points and made it hard for Clinical to establish one last run to grab the win.
Meanwhile, team Selecta notched its second-straight victory and prevailed over team BacFire in the last ICBC scheduled game.
It was another come-from-behind victory from the rolling Selecta team after BacFire led by as much as eight points in the first few quarters.
Kris Noel Adricula did all that he could and scored at will for team BacFire but as the later quarters approached, their lack of personnel haunted them and cost them the game.
Selecta then steamrolled their way in the last quarter and sank their perimeter shots at will led by Armando Acurantes with 19 big points followed by Hill Jaspe who contributed 14 points.
