Alvin’s Fitness, Big Roys, remain undefeated in ICBC 2022 hoops tourney

Team Alvin’s Fitness Center and Big Roys by Robejes Wonders continued its undefeated run in the ongoing Iloilo City Basketball Club (ICBC) annual basketball tournament second conference.

Alvin’s Fitness Center survived a gutsy run by Fueled Wings and needed an overtime period to fend them off, 90-85, while team Big Roys dominated from start to finish for their second-straight win, 106-95, against Selecta.

It was a close battle between Alvin’s Fitness Center and Fueled Wings as both squads traded offensive runs from the get-go.

Ron Cambas of team Fueled Wings was bound for a monster game after scoring a chunk of the team’s offensive output while also drilling the go-ahead bucket that gave them a 77-75 lead in the clutch seconds of the last quarter.

However, Alvin’s Fitness Center got a huge spark from Nicolas Ormas after burying the basket that forced the overtime period.

It was all Alvin’s in the last five minutes of the extension period as their balanced attack wore down team Fueled Wings in the overtime.

Abner Lapuz grabbed player of the game honors for team Alvin’s after dropping 24 big points in the hard-earned win while Cambas was the bright spot for Fueled Wings with 36 points.

In the second matchup of the double-header, team Big Roys improved their record to 2-0 and took down team Selecta.

It was a much-needed team effort from Big Roys to clinch the win against the surging Selecta team who got banged up early in the game after Aerol Acurantes’ injury.

After the unfortunate event, Big Roys began to steamroll its way in the clash and dominated on both ends of the floor.

Selecta improved their shooting in the last two quarters but it wasn’t enough to slow down Big Roys’ blazing offense.

John Rey Madulin grabbed his second player of the game honors after finishing the contest with 23 points while Diomer Bautista led Selecta with 39 points.
