Eddy Reynoso, Canelo Alvarez’s long-time trainer, released bold statements for their upcoming blockbuster fight against the talented Terence “Bud” Crawford.
With the two-month training camp now nearing to a close, Reynoso predicted that they have prepared more than enough, and a knockout victory will be on the way when the two pugs meet on Sept. 14, 2025, at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas.
Reynoso not only stated. HE PROMISED.
“I know with the preparation we’re doing, we’re going to knock Crawford out. No problem, I promise,” Reynoso said in an interview.
Reynoso and his camp knew this wouldn’t be a walk in the park, as Crawford is still undefeated in 41 fights, including 31 knockouts, since making his boxing professional debut in 2008.
As part of their preparations, Reynoso fielded Crawford-prototype sparring partners for Alvarez, namely Jaron “Boots” Ennis, one of the top-ranked middleweight fighters in the sport, and Yoenli Hernandez.
Several issues are currently crippling Crawford’s camp, but the most significant factor that lingers the most is his 13-month inactivity since fighting Israil Madrimov.
Reynoso said that they will be taking advantage of that edge, and fans might witness an aggressive Alvarez right off the bat.
The fight can be watched live on Netflix and will be the second massive boxing event that the streaming platform will be handling since the Jake Paul-Mike Tyson exhibition bout.
Promoting the biggest super middleweight fight of the year is Turki Alalshikh, the chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority. Working side by side with the renowned promoter is Dana White, the CEO of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
To make this fight possible, Crawford committed to jump two weight classes higher than his natural division. While most boxing experts warned him of his reduced foot speed in the ring, his camp and other firm believers predicted that his power would still be carried to the super middleweight division.
Alvarez will put his World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC), and World Boxing Organization (WBO) super middleweight championship belts on the line and is seeking another unification title defense.
