ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office-Regulatory Services Unit (CaPENRO-RSU) on Monday apprehended four violators of quarry and mining provisions under Ordinance No. 011, Series of 2017.
Some of the persons were allegedly caught in the act of extracting sand at Brgy. Poblacion Ilaya, Pontevedra.
Others were nabbed while transporting alleged illegally extracted minerals.
The apprehension was conducted following a complaint from a concerned citizen in the said area.
Lawyer Emelie Arboleda-Dipon, CaPENRO chief, said that despite of the challenges, CaPENRO remains faithful to its mandate of enforcing the environmental laws and ordinances in the Province of Capiz.
“Through the collected action of Capisnons, we can fight against unlawful practices to combat environmental degradation,” Dipon said.
The apprehended truck and bancas including the suspects are now in the custody of Pontevedra municipal police station.
