Alex Eala’s dominant streak continues after trouncing world no. 33 Linda Noskova of the Czech Republic, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2, in the 2020 French Open juniors’ singles quarterfinals.
The Rafael Nadal tennis academy scholar was again put to the test after dropping the first set, 4-6, and let Noskova capture momentum in the crucial next sequence.
However, Eala was able to break the opponent’s service and cruised through the next set to equalize the match.
The last set was a display of Eala’s offensive artillery after showing jaw-dropping scores against her opponent that put the stadium in awe.
Eala was able to consistently hit with power when she was on the baseline and showed glimpses of her net prowess after attacking the Czech in the close distance.
Noskova had no answers for the Filipina after attempting to apply pressure and cut to the net but Eala’s volley shots were too good and scored on several passing-shots during the sequence.
The astonishing achievement by Eala marked her as the first-ever Filipina to reach a Grand Slam semifinals berth.
