Filipina tennis sensation Alex Eala booked another Miami Open main draw ticket and is looking to bounce back after two-consecutive early exits from 2021-2022.
This is Eala’s third-straight time earning a spot in one of the most prestigious Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) 1000 tournaments.
Eala will seek to impress at the Hard Rock Stadium in Florida from March 19-April 2, 2023, against the best of the best WTA professional superstars.
the 17-year-old superstar will have a fully loaded International Tennis Federation (ITF) sanctioned pro tournaments and will add the Miami Open to her impressive resume.
Eala is off a second-round exit in the recently concluded W60 Trnava Open in Slovakia in the singles category but made it up after reaching the semifinal round of the doubles event.
Despite a 6-3, 6-3, loss to United Kingdom’s Alicia Barnett and Olivia Nicholls last March 10, 2023, Eala and her partner Justina Mikulskyte of Lithuania ended their campaign on a high note.
It was still a positive campaign for Eala after reaching the Top 4 stage, earlier taking down the pair of Vivian Heisen and Julia Lohoff in the quarterfinals to set up a clash with the UK tandem.
During the Round of 16, Eala and Mikulskyte bested Nina Vargova and Ela Platenikova via a sweep, 6-1, 6-0.
Eala will be going up against the top-seeded WTA players of the world headlined by no. 1 seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland.
Also reported to grace the star-studded Miami Open are former Grand Slam champion Emma Raducanu, Aryna Sabalenka, Jessica Pegula, and Ons Jabeur.
