Alcaraz sweeps de Minaur to bag Vienna Open title
By Leobert Julian A. de la Peña

Carlos Alcaraz clinched his fourth ATP title of the year after dominating Alex de Minaur, 6-1, 6-4, in the Vienna Open final on Nov. 1, 2026, at Wiener Stadthalle in Austria.
After a classic mano-a-mano battle against Daniil Medvedev in the semifinals, Alcaraz learned from his past mistakes and put on a flawless display of tennis against de Minaur in the championship match.
Alcaraz blew the first set wide open, breaking de Minaur three consecutive times to establish a commanding 5-1 lead.
Despite de Minaur’s serving adjustment, specifically avoiding Alcaraz’s forehand side with effective kick serves, the Australian netter still failed to gain any momentum as the tournament’s No. 2 seed steamrolled his way to a 1-0 set lead with consecutive down-the-line winners.
De Minaur put up a stiffer fight in the second set as he finally held serve in his first two service games to level the score at 2-all.
However, Alcaraz found the perfect opening in the sixth game, converting the lone break point of the set and never looking back.
From his signature drop shots to his elite court coverage, Alcaraz gave the Austrian crowd a treat to remember after clinching the championship point with a crafty slice that ended a grueling 16-shot rally.
Alcaraz wrapped up his championship campaign in Austria with 68 total points won, including five aces, four break points and 34 points on the return.
On the other hand, de Minaur concluded his runner-up campaign with 52 total points won, one ace and 14 points on the return.
“What an amazing week,” Alcaraz said during the trophy presentation.
“I want to give a shout out to the people here. The people here are incredible. You guys were amazing since the first day; I really enjoyed every time I played here. I can see how passionate you guys are for tennis.”
