The Macau Wolf Warriors handed Alab Pilipinas a rough welcome after the New Year in the Asean Basketball League (ABL).
Limiting star big man Sam Deguara, the Warriors stunned Alab Pilipinas, 98-93, in front of Alab’s countrymen in the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.
Macau contained Deguara in the paint by quickly doubling him, forcing numerous turnovers from the Maltese giant.
The pesky defense underneath only made Deguara produce 4 points in 21 minutes of action, one factor that proved to be negative for Alab.
Macau led as much as 11 points but the veteran Alab team led by Nick King stepped on the gas to quickly erase the deficit and tie the game.
Momentum began to swing Macau’s side after their defensive clinic against Deguara, and the hungry Warriors squad continued to produce timely baskets to help them seal the win.
