ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A 49-year-old resident of Banga, Aklan landed in jail after an unlicensed firearm was recovered from him Saturday evening at Barangay Balucuan, Sigma, Capiz.
Reigem Bergantinos of Brgy. Mambog, Banga was riding a motorcycle when he crashed into the bamboo fence of the house of Jenalyn Alayon at Balucuan.
Investigation by Sigma police indicated that Bergantinos was allegedly drunk when he bumped the fence at around 10 p.m. He then challenged anybody to a fight.
The barangay tanod or village police then noticed the suspect carrying a gun which turned out to be a .38-caliber revolver.
When village officials called for police assistance, Bergantinos failed to present valid papers for his gun.
The suspect is presently detained at Sigma police while charges for violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Act will be filed against him today, July 4.
