Capiz police launch CAPeace-Tawhayan peace initiative

ROXAS CITY, Capiz — The Capiz Police Provincial Office launched CAPeace-Tawhayan on July 22 to strengthen peace and order efforts across the province.
The initiative was led by officer-in-charge Col. David L. Cachumbo Jr.
The program includes the Balik-Loob and Surrender of Loose Firearms Assistance Desk, which will assist individuals who voluntarily turn over undocumented firearms to police stations and units in Capiz.
About 50 former supporters of a communist front organization took an oath and signed a pledge of commitment affirming their return to the government and support for peace and community development.
The former rebel supporters each received a sack of rice from the office of Capiz 1st District Rep. Ivan Howard A. Guinto as reintegration assistance.
Cachumbo said that the project “CAPeace-Tawhayan” is a peace-building initiative launched by the Capiz Police Provincial Office in the province of Capiz.
Its goal is to strengthen ties among the police, local governments and communities to improve peace and order, he said.
Capiz police created the program to help maintain public safety across the province.
“Tawhayan” is a local term meaning peaceful or quiet.
