The Akari Chargers are hoping to have a memorable and explosive debut in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) after tapping former Olympian Prisilla Rivera as an import in the upcoming Reinforced Conference.
The volleyball multi-champion is no stranger to international experiences and collected a total of 13 Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards, 17 club titles, 12 gold medals with the Dominican Republic, and three Olympic stints.
Rivera is hoping to lead the young Akari team to volleyball glory and will go up against the best of the best imports of the world including F2 Logistics’ Lindsay Stalzer.
The 37-year-old veteran spiker already toured the international volleyball scene and served as an import in Europe, Asia, and South America.
Rivera’s recent international stint was in Indonesia where she bannered the Jakarta Pertamina Energi volleyball club.
Aside from being a locker room leader to the newly formed Akari team, Rivera will be serving as the team’s primary scorer.
The Dominican Republic legend will be teaming up with Jho Maraguinot, Trisha Genesis, Erika Raagas, Michelle Cobb, and Dani Ravena.
Another team that is making its comeback in the PVL is the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers who recently skipped the Open Conference.
Returning to boost the Cargo Movers’ chances of clinching the championship title once again is Filipino-American Kalei Mau who was fresh off a professional stint in the USA.
