The municipality of Ajuy, Iloilo officially resumed National ID registration operations on July 14, 2025, with newly elected Mayor Loida J. Espinosa leading the initiative as the first registrant.
Mayor Espinosa’s personal registration at the Ajuy Municipal Hall marked the relaunch of the Philippine Identification System (PhilSys) in the town and demonstrated strong local government support for the program.
“I hope that the National ID will not just serve for purposes of identification of individuals or for personal transactions only, but will also help promote an enabling environment towards an effective delivery of services for our constituents — something which can be an instrument in achieving an inclusive, responsive, and people-centered governance,” Espinosa said in her message.
The Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), in coordination with the Ajuy LGU, is conducting the resumed registration activities with a combination of fixed and mobile sites.
As of July 25, a total of 102 individuals have completed their National ID registration, while 143 residents have received their paper-printed IDs.
The PSA’s National ID team is continuing mobile registration services in key barangays across Ajuy until July 30.
Available services include new registrations, distribution of printed National IDs, tracking of registration status, and replacement of damaged or defective cards.
Registration Assistant Donna May Gallego facilitated the historic registration of Mayor Espinosa, who became the first female mayor of Ajuy.
The PSA Iloilo office urged all unregistered residents to participate in the remaining mobile registration schedule and contribute to building a unified and secure digital identification system.
PhilSys aims to simplify identity verification, promote financial inclusion, and improve public service delivery through a single government-issued ID recognized nationwide.
