Rhenz Abando continued his streak of majestic performances and tallied his season-best in scoring after dropping 21 markers in Anyang KGC’s fifth-straight win last November 27, 2022 in the ongoing Korean Basketball League (KBL).
The former Gilas Pilipinas small forward shot the lights out and led Anyang over the Seoul SK Knights, 90-84, held at the Anyang Gymnasium.
Abando was efficient against Seoul and converted nine out of his 12 total attempts from the shooting field.
The NCAA Rookie Most Valuable Player (MVP) with the Letran Knights only missed once from the three-point range in four attempts to go alongside five rebounds and five assists.
After leading Anyang to back-to-back wins against Changwon last week, Abando wasn’t done turning heads and was in the most perfect time to drop his new season-high against the defending KBL champions.
Abando got it going at the start of the second frame after drilling a three-pointer from the corner and followed it up with an aggressive drive to the basket.
Former NBA big man Omari Spellman backstopped Abando with a 21-point production on top of 12 rebounds, five assists, two steals, and a block.
Abando proved why he is the highest-paid Asian import in the KBL and was quick to leave his mark as one of the deadliest two-way players.
Anyang is off to a hot start in the young KBL season and will most likely enter the playoffs if they continue to rack up the wins.
With another convincing win in the KBL, Anyang is now the league’s no.1 team with a 13-3 win-loss record and has now taken over Seoul SK’s spot.
