Miami Heat rookie Tyler Herro shot the lights out and became the best player on the floor despite being the youngest at age 20.
Putting on a clinic against the Boston Celtics, Herro fired 37 bombs to help put Miami in a commanding 3-1 Eastern Conference Finals lead, after a 112-109 victory.
Miami head coach Erik Spoelstra relied on the hot hands of the rookie who became the fire extinguisher of sorts every time Boston looked to catch fire and launch their own scoring avalanche.
Ice in his veins was pretty evident in the game after Herro knocked down clutch baskets to cut Boston’s momentum.
The super rookie finished the game on a superb 14-out-of-21 shooting from the field including a 50% shooting performance from downtown.
Boston looked flat in the first half after failing to drain wide-open shots and was out-rebounded by the Miami frontcourt.
Spoelstra went back to his zone which Boston negated in Game 3 but the Celtics’ shooters just can’t convert their open shots, especially their young star Jayson Tatum.
Tatum shot terribly from the field in the first half and entered the third quarter with no points, only to see himself explode for 18 points just in that quarter alone.
Kemba Walker, Gordon Hayward, Marcus Smart, and Jaylen Brown missed a lot of open treys in the final frame which Miami capitalized on the other end, firing quick passes to trigger fast breaks for easy scores.
Miami leader Jimmy Butler then iced the game with his clutch free throws to finish with 24 points and 9 rebounds while Bam Adebayo contributed 20 points and 12 rebounds in a much-needed win.
With the win, Miami will just need one more win to advance to the NBA finals and will wait for the winner between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Denver Nuggets.
