93 couples tie the knot in Guimaras’ free civil mass weddings

Ninety-three (93) couples tied the knot during the free civil mass weddings in various municipalities in Guimaras in February 2022 as one of the highlights of the 32^nd Civil Registration Month activities.

The couples officially formalized their union in Buenavista (9), Jordan (25), Nueva Valencia (47), and Sibunag (12).

“The Free mass weddings in Buenavista and Jordan municipalities were done on Valentine’s Day, while the Sibunag’s mass wedding was on February 20,” Provincial Statistical Officer Nelida B. Losare said.B. Losare said.

“Three (3) nuptials held in Nueva Valencia in a separate venue with a total of forty-seven (47) couples: thirteen (13) pairs get married in Barangay Igang on February 15, while the other seven (7) and twenty-seven (27) partners exchanged their vows in Barangay Concordia on February 22 and Lanipe on February 24, respectively,” Losare added.

Losare admired the oldest couple (groom at 82 years old, bride at 79 years old) from Barangay Igang, who were convinced by their children to exchange “I dos”.

Losare also expounded that the mass weddings in each municipality were solemnized by their respective mayors – Eugenio G. Reyes of Buenavista, Ruben B. Corpuz of Jordan, Emmanuel C. Galila of Nueva Valencia, and Annabelle V. Samaniego of Sibunag.

“Vice Mayor and Sangguniang Bayan Members of the respective town also witnessed the union of the couples per municipality,” Losare said,

Mary Grace Dorilag of PSA RSSOVI and PSO Losare of PSA-Guimaras also supported the nuptial of Buenavista and Jordan Municipality.

“AO I Ian Janick G. Gomez III of PSA- Guimaras also upheld the knot tying of 12 couples in Sibunag Municipality,” Losare said.

Losare also showed her support to the mass weddings in Barangay Igang, and Lanipe while the matrimony in Barangay Concordia Sur was attended by SSS Vicente Geonanga of PSA-Guimaras.

The free mass weddings were sponsored by the municipal governments that shouldered the CENOMAR, marriage license application, venue, cake, wine, and the rings.

Losare expressed her gratitude to the wedded couples for making the right decision of getting married, as it cures the problem of illegitimate children, that through the subsequent marriage of their parents will be legitimated.

“Your decision of getting married has contributed a lot in the achievement of the CRVS decade goal that by the end of 2024, no one shall be left behind unregistered,” Losare said.

Losare also reminded the couples to always check the entries on their civil registry documents before affixing their signatures to avoid problems in the future.

“I commend the MCRs and staff for all their efforts, hard works, and dedication in the conduct of the mass weddings, and the Municipal and Barangay Officials for their sustenance not only to the CRM activities but also in the implementation of the Barangay Civil Registry System,” Losare said.

Every Mayor also encouraged all couples to have a strong foundation of love to build a stable family.

The mass wedding is one of the activities conducted by the municipal local government units of Guimaras through the efforts of the Municipal Civil Registrars with the collaboration of the Philippine Statistics Authority-Guimaras in agreement with the celebration of the 32nd Civil Registration Month with the theme: “Improving Civil Registration and Vital Statistics Implementation Strategies through Digital Transformation.”

   “The PSA is overwhelmed with the number of couples getting married even after February, additional

   eighteen (18) couples wedded on March 02 at Barangay Pandaraonan, Nueva Valencia,” Losare said.
