The 82nd Charter Day basketball tournament officially started July 28, 2019, at Jaro Gym in Iloilo City.
On the first day of the tournament, Central Philippine University toppled University of San Agustin, 73-47 (inter-school), while La Paz prevailed against Jaro, 75-62 (barangay officials).
SOG beat UK Sports, 83-73 (40-up), RGG ball club defeated YMCA, 83-73 (40-up), and TEJ Builders crushed Praetorians A, 94-57 (40-up).
The basketball tourney will end on August 25, 2019, and has 4 categories: 40 up, inter-school, barangay officials, and SK officials.
Games are scheduled after office hours at around 6:30 p.m. until the games are finished.
The inter-school category is scheduled during the weekends so that the schools can have full participation.
Champions in each category will receive 15,000 pesos; second placers 10,000 pesos; and third placers 5,000 pesos.
