The Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) sent 320 neophyte cops for an anti-insurgency training starting on Nov 24, 2020.
The rookie cops started the Basic Internal Security Operations Course (BISOC) at the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company based in Sara, Iloilo.
Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, said that BISOC is mandatory for all PNP personnel.
He cited the training’s importance in providing the right mindset and instinct, indoctrination, discipline and character, individual and unit skills, and knowledge to newly-recruited cops.
These skills and competence, Pamuspusan said, are needed when conducting internal security operations or ISOs.
BISOC will also lay down among neophyte cops the concept of small unit operations, the standard operating procedures, tactics, and techniques, and procedures for operation, especially in the areas of counterinsurgency
The Regional Special Training Unit 6 (RSTU-6) will administer the 60-day course with Police Lieutenant Colonel Samuel Roy Subsuban as course director.
After completing the training, all participants will be assigned to the different Mobile Force Companies in the region to perform anti-insurgency operations.
“I am directing everyone to submit your whole being to this training. Remember, there are no second chances in real life combats and there will be no rewinds. So, take the opportunity given to you to learn and sharpen your skills to be able to adapt to any situation you might encounter,” Pamuspusan told the trainees.
Meanwhile, PRO-6 vowed to strictly implement health and safety protocols in the conduct of the training.
