BACOLOD City – A three-year-old girl died after she drowned in a river beside their house at Sitio Tikoy-tikoy, Barangay Cabacungan, La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Friday.
Police Major Nelson Amsiwen Jr., town police chief, said the mother left her daughter at her mother-in-law’s house for a while.
Both are just neighbors. However, when the victim’s mother left, she followed her.
Amsiwen said that it was raining hard at that time, and the child was reportedly swept away by the strong river current.
She was found a few hours later at Sitio Obay of the same barangay, about a kilometer away from their house.
The victim was declared dead in a hospital, according to Amsiwen.
