The University of the Philippines (UP) has recognized two faculty members and a staff from the Division of Humanities (HumDiv) of the UP Visayas College of Arts and Sciences as UP Artists.
Prof. Kevin Piamonte, Mr. Erick Aguilar, and Mr. Ruperto Quitag were granted the UP Arts Productivity Award and UP Artist I ranks for 2019-2021 during the 1371st UP Board of Regents (BOR) Meeting on June 9, 2022.
The award shall carry a monetary award of PhP150,000 per annum to be given to those ranked as UP Artist I. They will be granted the said rate for three years.
The UP Arts Productivity System (APS) was established by the BOR in its 1239th meeting in December 2008 as the counterpart for the arts of the UP Scientific Productivity System, according to the UP Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs.
The APS is aimed at encouraging outstanding productivity in the creative arts or in art scholarship for national development.
It covers faculty and staff who meet the highest productivity standards and professional standing or recognition. (Carlson B. Alelis/IPO)
