28 Aklan schools get computers from DTI

KALIBO, Aklan – Twenty-eight public high schools from various Aklan towns are lucky recipients of computer sets from the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) under its Personal Computers for Public School (PCPS) 5 project.

Under the program, each of the recipient schools will receive 10 units of computers, one unit of 3-in-1 Inkjet printer, and 10 units Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS).

This good news was shared by DTI-Aklan OIC Provincial Director Ma. Carmen Iturralde during the monthly press conference with the local media here dubbed “DTI Meets the Media.”

The DTI’s PCPS project is in partnership with the Department of Education (DepEd).

The project has 380 beneficiaries from Mindanao and Visayas combined.

In the Visayas, beneficiaries are 126 public high schools, of which 65 schools are in Region 6.

Iturralde said the project is an initiative of the  DTI in response to the growing needs of the Knowledge Economy.

She added the project is implemented by the DTI-Resource Generation Management Service, funded by the Government of Japan’s Non-Project Grant Aid Counter Value fund (NPGA-CVF) with a total grant fund of P2.27 billion from Phases 1 through Phase 4.

Iturralde also said the computers will be a big help to students in the recipient schools who need not go anymore to computer shops in their respective towns to encode their homework, assignments and school projects.

Recipient schools include four schools from Malinao, three schools each from Banga,  Batan, Ibajay, two schools each from Buruanga, Kalibo, Malay, Nabas, New Washington and Tangalan, and one school each from Lezo, Libacao and Numancia. (PIA)
