BACOLOD CITY, Philippines — The Police Regional Office-Negros Island Region (PRO-NIR) formally welcomed 244 newly recruited personnel during oath-taking and turnover ceremonies at the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office grandstand in Barangay Estefania on Monday.
The recruits include 187 men and 57 women.
They took their oath of office, marking their formal entry into the Philippine National Police (PNP).
After the oath-taking, organizers turned the recruits over to the Regional Learning and Doctrine Development Division to begin structured professional formation.
They were later endorsed to the Negros Island Region Training Center for intensive training focused on discipline, operational skills, and police doctrines and core values.
Police Brig. Gen. Arnold Thomas Ibay, PRO-NIR director, congratulated the recruits and said their oath binds them to the Constitution and to the people they are sworn to serve and protect.
“Congratulations to the new breed of police officers joining an institution founded on sacrifice, discipline, and service,” Ibay said.
He reminded the recruits that wearing the badge carries authority and the responsibility to act with integrity, restraint and respect for the rule of law, and he said their actions will shape public trust in the PNP.
Ibay said challenges and sacrifices are inherent in police work, and he urged the recruits to let discipline, professionalism and respect for human rights guide their actions.
He encouraged them to serve with fairness, compassion and courage while remaining faithful to the rule of law.
“As the regional director, I expect each one of you to uphold the core values of the PNP: Maka-Diyos, Makatao, Makabayan, at Makakalikasan. Serve with humility, remain disciplined, and never forget why you chose this noble profession,” Ibay said.
He also acknowledged the recruits’ families, saying their support helps keep police officers grounded and committed to duty.
The Negros Island Region is composed of Negros Occidental, including Bacolod City, Negros Oriental and Siquijor.
