A 20-year old man was arrested for killing another man early this year.
Members of Pavia Police Station collared Rovel Gardose Jr., a resident of Barangay Tacas, Jaro, Iloilo City, around 4 pm of Nov 17, 2020 at Purok IV, Pavia.
The team led by Major Jojo Tabaloc, Pavia police chief, apprehended the suspect by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder in Criminal Case No. 20-80796.
Judge Ma. Theresa Gaspar of the Regional Trial Court Branch 33 in Iloilo City issued the warrant on Nov. 3, 2020.
No bail was set for his temporary liberty.
Senior Master Sergeant Geoffrey Obaob, Pavia police investigator, said they initially filed a case for robbery with homicide against Gardose, a Jane Doe, and a John Doe relative to the killing of Lextor June Bernaldez on Feb. 2, 2020.
“Daw na tripingan lang. Ginsita nila ang biktima until it led to the suspects hanging up the victim,” Obaob said.
Based on CCTV footage, the victim had a cellphone prior to the incident but it later went missing, thus, the filing of the robbery with homicide.
But the prosecutor upgraded the charge to murder.
Aside from the CCTV footage, Obaob said they also had a witness identifying Gardose as the suspect.
Gardose is now detained.
