ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Two men died Sunday morning, May 4, when the motorcycle they were riding crashed into a parked truck along Arnaldo Boulevard in Barangay Baybay.
Police identified the victims as Jeff Merick Valisno, 25, the motorcycle driver and a resident of Barangay Banica, and JM Lara, 19, his backrider from Barangay Dayao, both of Roxas City.
According to the Roxas City Police Station, the victims had just come from Roxas City Airport after attending a friend’s birthday party when they collided with the rear of the truck.
The impact caused fatal head injuries to both men.
They were rushed to Roxas Memorial Provincial Hospital but were declared dead on arrival.
Police said neither victim was wearing a helmet, in violation of city regulations.
Authorities also believe the two were under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
The victims’ remains were taken to a funeral parlor.
The truck driver is in the custody of Roxas City Police Station for proper disposition.
