The first National 4×4 Off-Road Challenge was one of the highlights among the many Dinagyang sports events.
Brought to the Ilonggos by the Iloilo 4×4 Club Team Roadtracker with the assistance of the Iloilo City Government headed by Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, the competition featured the top 4×4 drivers in the whole country.
Participants from Iloilo, Bacolod, General Santos, Ormoc, and other places from Mindanao and Visayas graced the event with the aim of acquiring points to boost their chances of winning the “Driver of the Year” award under the National Association of Filipino Off-roaders (NASFOR).
The 4×4 Off-Road Challenge has four categories: Extreme, expert, production, and stock. The extreme category featured the biggest cash prize with 40,000 pesos followed by expert with 20,000 pesos, production with 15,000, and stock with 5,000.
“4×4 enthusiasts came here from all over the Philippines because this is the first in Iloilo. The first National 4×4 Challenge and top drivers are aiming to win this because the results here will be included in the points tally to determine the driver of the year award by NASFOR,” said Engr. Mark Elupre, one of the main organizers of the event.
