The 1st Mayor Jerry Treñas Skateboarding Competition will flip boards this 82nd Charter Day on August 24, 2019 at the Iloilo Public Skatepark.
BUREAU, the main organization who will spearhead the event, will be assisted by the Iloilo City Government which includes the Iloilo City Sports Development Division.
For those who don’t know, BUREAU is a collective of street artists dedicated to promote youth involvement in underrated arts, music, sports and subculture activities.
Sam Paguntalan, the BUREAU chief, is popularly known as “Wasper” in the Ilonggo graffiti scene.
In an interview, Paguntalan stated, “as advocates of youth advancement, we are overwhelmed with the support of mayor Treñas. He is true with his words in bringing Iloilo city to the next level, including the sports scene (all forms of sports) boardsports, e-sports, etc., not just ball games.”
When asked towards the upcoming event, Paguntalan added, “the Iloilo city Charter Day Mayors cup skateboarding competition will be the grandest skateboarding competition so far.”
Paguntalan, together with Mayor Jerry Treñas and Executive Assistant for Sports Rudiver Jungco already discussed future projects for Iloilo.
The competition will include special games such as best rail, best ledge, highest ollie, and longest gap.
