Ex-drug offender gunned down, one injured

BACOLOD City – Police are looking into an alleged failed illegal drug transaction as a possible motive behind a gun attack that killed a former drug offender and wounded another person at Purok Langis, Barangay Banago here last Monday.

Police Major Armilyn Vargas, head of Police Station 3, identified the fatality as Edsil Mike Diaz, 26, of Barangay Granada here.

Wounded was John Divinagracia, 26, of Barangay Mandalagan here.

Based on the investigation, Diaz was inside a computer shop when he was shot by an unidentified person hitting him in the chest. He later passed away in a hospital.

Vargas said that Divinagracia was hit by a stray bullet in the feet, and is confined at Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.

According to the police, Diaz was previously jailed for illegal drugs and was released through plea bargaining.

Vargas said they already have a person of interest.
