DepEd-6 partners with PSA Iloilo for capacity building on data analysis

Over the years, the Department of Education in Region 6 has accumulated an abundant amount of data in its database, such as the number of enrollees, teachers, and classrooms used, as well as performance ratings from the regional, down to school level.

The Policy Planning and Research Division (PPRD) of DepEd Region VI formulated an activity on capacity building for all planning officers to enhance the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of statistics that they have and to give life and meaning to the numbers and figures.

The event was held in Punta Villa Resort, Arevalo, Iloilo City on Jan 26, 2023.

PSA Iloilo was invited and asked to conduct a training workshop on the topics with 21 planning officers from the different Schools Division Offices in the region.

The team was headed by Statistical Specialist II Shirlyn B. Hortillosa who discussed Data Presentation and Techniques, and Guidelines on the Preparation of Dissemination Materials, and members, Statistical Analyst Harris Angelo Ebojo who tackled Data Analysis and Interpretation, Registration Officer I Franz Angelo Baquiano who conveyed knowledge on Data Presentation Using MS Excel and Powerpoint, and Statistical Clerk Hanna Jonane Dalton who shared the basics on Data Presentation (Infographics and Social Cards) using Canva.

After the presentation of the speakers, a workshop was held wherein the participants were required and expected to make and present a PowerPoint presentation and infographics using the data provided to them by the organizers.
