Zero new COVID case in Bacolod

BACOLOD City – This city had no new coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) case last Dec 19, 2020.
A report from the Bacolod Public Information Office also indicated six new recoveries and zero death on the same day.
The data based on the report released by the Department of Health Region 6 also showed that the city only has 128 cases remaining out of the 5,553 total COVID-19 cases.
The number of deaths remained at 173.
The same report showed that Negros Occidental still has the highest number of COVID -19 cases in Western Visayas with 6,192 and the highest total active cases with 577.
Bacolod City is second in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 5,553, followed by Iloilo City with 4,577, Iloilo Province – 2,863, Capiz – 1,179, Aklan – 378, Guimaras – 240 and Antique – 83.
Earlier, Emergency Operations Center executive director, City Administrator Em Ang appealed to the city residents not to be complacent despite the “controlled” spread of the COVID-19 cases in the city.
Ang and Mayor Evelio Leonardia attributed the successful turnaround of cases in the city to IATF -Visayas chief implementer retired general Melquiades Feliciano who helped establish the EOC.
Bacolod City reached its peak of COVID cases in recent months with an average of 100 new cases daily.
Both city officials urged the public to limit celebration of Christmas within the household to avoid spreading the virus.
