Police suspect that juvenile delinquents might be behind the burglary of the mayor’s office in Estancia, Iloilo.
The incident was discovered around 6:52 a.m. of June 15, 2020, after one of the town hall’s employees reported for work.
Jency dela Cruz, a job hire, reported the incident to police authorities.
Reported missing were two PLDT internet modems, a CCTV camera, and cash of P700.
Police Major Rene Obregon, Estancia police chief, said the suspects may have sneaked into the office via the comfort room at the back portion of the building.
Obregon said some parts of the building were under renovation and that carpenters left their improvised scaffolding, which the suspects used in climbing up the CR’s window.
He surmised that the burglary took place early morning of June 14.
Obregon said they already have at least four persons of interest on the theft incident.
“These are minors who are deemed habitual offenders. They are regulars at the DSWD,” he said referring to the act wherein underage offenders are turned over to the custody of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
“We went to the house of the two suspects but their parents claimed they don’t know where they are,” he said.
Obregon said they have to secure a copy of the CCTV footage, since the technician is yet to report for work.
