A 22-year-old man remains at large after allegedly stabbing his father to death on the evening of Oct. 7 in Mandurriao, Iloilo City.
The suspect, identified only as alias Jerson, allegedly killed his father, Jigger, 40, in a knife attack at their home in Barangay Taft North, Mandurriao.
Police investigation showed that it was not Jerson and Jigger who initially argued.
Reports said Jigger and his live-in partner, Azucena, were having a heated altercation.
At the height of their verbal tussle, Jigger allegedly slapped Azucena.
Jerson then intervened, leading to a confrontation between the father and son.
As their brawl escalated, the suspect reportedly grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed his father in the upper abdomen.
CCTV footage showed a wounded Jigger walking outside their home.
He was rushed to Healthway QualiMed Hospital but died while undergoing treatment.
The suspect immediately fled after the incident.
Captain Val Cambel of Iloilo City Police Station 10 said Jigger and Jerson had been constantly fighting over the past week.
Azucena told investigators that Jigger had reprimanded his son for spending his salary on vices.
She also hinted that the suspect might have been using illegal drugs.
Cambel said police are working toward the suspect’s surrender.
