BACOLOD City – Police are eyeing a person of interest in a stabbing incident that killed a young man and injured a teenager in a fiesta at Purok Kalubihan, Barangay Amayco, Murcia, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
The fatality was identified as Novie Star Dequito, 22, of Barangay Sta. Rosa. Wounded was Niel Salazar, 19, of Barangay Amayco.
Police Captain Marc Joeil Reclamado, town police chief, said the victims and the suspect were drinking liquor at separate tables when Dequito went to the latter’s side.
Reclamado said a commotion occurred for a still undetermined reason.
The unidentified suspect stabbed Dequito. Salazar tried to pacify the commotion but he was also stabbed by the suspect who then fled after the incident, according to Reclamado.
Both victims were taken to Murcia Health Unit, but Dequito was declared dead on arrival.
Salazar was transferred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital here.
