BACOLOD CITY — A young fisherman died after being struck by lightning along the shoreline of Purok Maguey, Barangay Tibsoc, San Enrique, Negros Occidental, last Tuesday.
Police identified the victim as 21-year-old Mico Gemino.
Police Major Leo Estopa, San Enrique police chief, said the victim and his father had just finished fishing when the lightning struck around 1:30 p.m.
Heavy rain occurred that day, and the lightning also damaged their pump boat, Estopa added.
The victim’s 48-year-old father was unharmed, but his son was pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the police.
Estopa said the incident was reported to the police on Wednesday.
