A young couple will have to post a P300,000 bail each for their temporary freedom for allegedly taking off with someone else’s motorcycle.
John Jeben Bedrio, 19, and his girlfriend Jezrah Aventurado, 20, were arrested minutes apart at the former’s house in Barangay Siol Norte, Leon, Iloilo afternoon of Oct 21, 2021.
Aventurado, San Miguel town’s fourth most wanted person, is a resident of Barangay Sta. Cruz, San Miguel.
Members of Leon Police Station and San Miguel Police Station collared the couple by virtue of an arrest warrant for violation Sec. 3 of Republic Act 10883 (New Anti-Carnapping Act of 2016) issued by Judge Cyril Regalado of the Regional Trial Court Branch 31 in Iloilo City on July 19, 2021.
Master Sergeant Billy Salvilla, San Miguel police investigator, said the carnapping incident happened Oct. 6.
The complainant claimed his motorcycle went missing after he parked it at his cousin’s house in Barangay Igtambo, San Miguel town.
Two days later, police flagged down a motorcycle with no plate number in a checkpoint operation at Igtambo village.
The driver and back rider stopped, but they ran away and abandoned the motorcycle.
Police officers later found out that the motorcycle was the same vehicle that was reported stolen on Oct. 6.
They later identified the driver and backrider as Bedrio and Aventurado.
A carnapping case was eventually filed against them.
The couple are now detained pending the filing of appropriate charges against them.
