The rumors are true. Kiefer Ravena is contemplating playing in Japan and reunite with his brother Thirdy.
NLEX head coach Yeng Guiao himself confirmed the development after revealing that Ravena is currently being offered a good deal to play in the Japan B. League.
Guiao bared that Ravena went to his house and discussed the terms offered to him for a chance to suit up in Japan and become the first Filipino brothers to play in the international league.
“He came to my house and then we talked about it. He had an offer. He had an offer in Japan. It was a really good offer and he was thinking about it,” said Guiao.
Ravena told Guiao that he is trying to complete his papers to Japan but will have to hurdle several requirements in the PBA before flying.
Through the PBA Uniform Players’ Contract, a player would have to commit to his team if he already signed a contract which Ravena did, signing a three-year deal with NLEX last September.
“He told me about it and I said the first thing is I don’t want to be in the way of your personal career advancement, especially if that advancement was really something substantial,” Guiao added.
Up until now, there are no updates on whether Ravena completed all of his documents to Japan and if he already asked permission from PBA commissioner Willie Marcial regarding his plan of going abroad.
