Just a little refresher before we deal with this controversy again. Although the persons directly involved in this case is the Causing couple, C.J. Nicholas (Nico) and Shean Irish (Shean) and their baby, their traumatic experience that disturbed their peaceful life, relates directly to the conflict within the family of the late Ricardo Yanson. Specifically mentioned as the prime mover in the Causings’ harrowing moments is Olivia Yanson, the matriarch of the family who wanted to control all the family properties. Her actions shattered her family’s harmony. The Causings are thus unfortunate collateral damage to the Yanson family feud.
Olivia did not personally appear to drastically change the peaceful life of the Causing family but through her enforcers and other persons who, succumbing to whatever pressure or inducement, allowed themselves to be used to achieve Olivia’s purposes. Indeed, with her billions of pesos and government authorities under her command, she exerted the force that tumbled down and upturned the lives of the young Causing couple and placed the life of their one-year-old baby in grave jeopardy. Nothing can be more despicable than inflicting psychological and emotional injury to the innocents, especially helpless children.
I wrote some details of the vexing experience of the Causings before based on information we could gather. But here is the criminal case filed arising from their distressful experience. Unfortunately for those who blindly followed the demands of Olivia that brushed aside the rule of law and basic decency, these enforcers have to account for their deeds before the court where this case should have been submitted in the first place before any hostile or aggressive actions were taken.
Worse, some of them are government employees and this criminal case means they will not receive their benefits when they retired while the case remains in the docket. I refer specifically to the employees of the Bacolod City Water district (Baciwa) because, with the takeover of Prime Water of their district, they may have to be retired or terminated.
I wonder whether Olivia would compensate them for their apparent bootlicking. On the other hand, was it worth the price of one’s honor, even though this is a rare virtue these days?
Two criminal cases were filed, one for child abuse and the other for grave coercion and intimidation. The complaint was filed October 5 with the Bacolod City Prosecutor’s Office and will yet to undergo preliminary investigation where we hope the first incorruptible step of the path of justice will be honored.
So now to the specifics based on the criminal case filed by the Causing couple.
The couple lived with their father, Perseus Causing (Perseus) at Unit No. 3, Balbina St, Sta. Clara Executive Village, Brgy. Mandalagan, Bacolod City. Perseus leased the Unit from Emily V. Yanson for two years starting April 4, 2019 to April 4, 2021. Emily is one of the estranged daughters of Olivia. The mother, had filed a disinheritance case against her four children but that case had lingered in the court. Olivia also filed a case to cancel the amicable agreement among the members of the family; she wanted to take most of the family possessions. It is apparent Olivia wanted to destitute her children and in the pursuit of this objective, Emily became a victim.
Sometime towards the end of January 2020, the young Causing couple were jolted when they received summons issued by Mandalagan Barangay chairman, Arturo V. Parreño. The summons directed Perseus Causing “to appear in person” on February 10, 2020 for “mediation/conciliation in view of the complaint for ejectment filed by a certain Marilyn Lopez.”
Who was she to file the ejection case? She claimed to represent Olivia Yanson.
As the summons was addressed to his father, Nico informed him and was instructed to refer the matter to his father’s lawyer. However, before any step could be taken to deal with this summons, Nico received a summons from Parreño, this time addressed to him and for Nico to appear on February 24. It had the same complaint and complainant.
Olivia could not wait more than 14 days since the first summons and filed another, this time against the son, Nico, who was in the actual residence of the apartment unit.

Where students matter the most
There is a moment most teachers and student affairs people know too well, but rarely talk about. It is not during recognition day. Not during graduation. It is that quiet moment when you notice a student slowly fading — attendance slipping, participation shrinking, eyes no longer meeting yours. Nothing dramatic. No
