With the theme “Balik Roxas Hall 2025,” the West Visayas State University College of Medicine celebrated its 50th anniversary with three days of nostalgic and exciting festivities, dahlings.
As expected, the WVSU College of Medicine alumni gathered for the sparkling golden anniversary celebration.
The event took place in Iloilo City from July 9–11, 2025.
Festivities kicked off on July 9 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and exhibit of WVSU-COM memorabilia, led by WVSU President Dr. Joselito Villaruz and College of Medicine Dean Dr. Victor A. Amantillo Jr. at SM City Iloilo.
Distinguished alumnus Dr. Rollin Tabuena and fellow alumni attended the opening ceremony and expressed full support for the historic occasion.
Dr. Tabuena fondly recalled his memories of Roxas Hall during his student days and shared what, for him, makes Roxas Hall truly “golden.”
Later that day, a Zumba session was held at the WVSU College of Medicine gymnasium, where Dr. Tabuena received a special award for his stylish costume and impressive dance moves.
Established in 1975, the WVSU College of Medicine’s Roxas Hall building holds the distinction of being the first medical school in Western Visayas and the second in the Philippines.
