WV reports highest COVID recoveries in a day

The number of recoveries from the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) nearly equalled the number of active cases as of July 17, 2020.
The Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development (DOH-WV CHD) reported 63 new recoveries against 12 new confirmed cases.
The total number of recoveries so far is 345, against 359 active cases.
Dr. Maria Jocelyn Te of DOH-WV CHD confirmed that 63 was the highest number of recovered cases reported in a single day for the region.
This comes only days after the highest number of confirmed cases at 91 was reported on July 12.
The list of recovered cases included the region’s youngest case (WV Patient No. 344), a two-month-old male from Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental.
WV Patients No. 690 and 691, both from Pavia, Iloilo, which were reported on July 16, also survived the disease.
DOH data indicated that as of July 17, 2020, the region now has 716 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with 12 deaths.
NEW CASES
The latest batch of 17 cases are still mostly Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) with 13:
– 47-year-old male from San Miguel, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 700);
– 51-year-old male from Nueva Valencia, Guimaras (WV Patient No. 701);
– 29-year-old male from Lemery, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 702);
– 23-year-old female from Lemery, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 703);
– 23-year-old female from Jamindan, Capiz (WV Patient No. 704);
– 21-year-old female from Calinog, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 705);
– 21-year-old female from Calinog, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 706);
– 20-year-old male from Hinobaan, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 708);
– 21-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 709);
– 21-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 710);
– 20-year-old female from Cauayan, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 714);
– 28-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 715); and
– 45-year-old male from Sagay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 716).
Ten patients are under facility-based quarantine, while two (WV Patient Nos. 705 and 706) are under home-based quarantine. One (WV Patient No. 704) is admitted to a hospital.
Three other cases are Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW):
– 37-year-old female from Murcia, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 711);
– 30-year-old female from Hinigaran, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 712); and
– 36-year-old male from Silay City, Negros Occidental (WV Patient No. 713).
Te said that the reported local case, a 32-year-old male from Dueñas, Iloilo (WV Patient No. 707) is considered an LSI but will have to be re-validated by the DOH-WV CHD.
