WV posts record high new COVID-19 cases with 206

The region listed 206 new cases of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) on Sept. 4, 2020, the highest single-day number in the region, according to the Department of Health-Western Visayas Center for Health Development’s (DOH-WV CHD).
The new cases pushed the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the region to 5,346 cases, with 2,532 active cases.
Majority of the cases are still local transmission with 192.
Four of the new cases are Locally Stranded Individuals (LSI) while Returning Overseas Filipinos (ROF) and Authorized Persons Outside of Residence accounted for two cases each.
The category of the remaining six new cases are “for verification” according to the DOH-WV CHD.
By residence, Bacolod City listed the most number of new cases with 89, followed by Negros Occidental province with 85, Iloilo City with 23, and Iloilo province with 9 new cases.
Aklan, Antique, Capiz, and Guimaras provinces did not report new cases on Sept. 4.
Based on symptoms, 181 new cases are asymptomatic, 20 have shown Influenza-Like Illnesses (ILI), 3 have Severe Acute Respiratory Infection (SARI), and 2 new cases are still “for verification”.
A total of 1,781 laboratory results from the Sub-National and Molecular Laboratories in the region were released on Sept. 4.
The region also posted 68 new COVID-19 recoveries on Friday, increasing the total number of survivors to 2,728.
Iloilo province listed the most number of recoveries with 32, followed by Iloilo City with 18, Bacolod City with 13, Capiz province with 3, and Guimaras province with 2 new recoveries.
The total number of COVID-19 deaths in the region have increased to 86, with 3 new deaths reported by the DOH-WV CHD on Sept. 4.
