The intensified anti-criminality campaign of the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 led to the arrest of 2,411 wanted persons in Western Visayas.
PRO-6 records showed that the arrests were made from January to Sept. 15, 2020.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Joem Malong, PRO-6 spokesperson, said the arrests were the combined accomplishments of all units.
Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOCPPO) made the most arrests at 1,196 or 49.6 percent of the total figure.
Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) arrested 492 wanted persons while Capiz PPO had 158 arrests; Bacolod City PO with 138; Aklan PPO with 115; Iloilo City PO with 100; Antique PPO with 83; and Guimaras PPO with 55.
Other units also contributed to the effort such as the Regional Criminal Investigation and Detective Unit 6 (RCIDU-6) with 57 and the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 (RMFB-6) with 17.
Aside from wanted persons arrested, PRO-6 said 12 wanted persons surrendered to different police units in the region.
Police Brigadier General Rene Pamuspusan, Western Visayas police chief, said the arrest of wanted persons has a huge impact in the anti-criminality efforts of the region.
As such, “the accounting of wanted persons is one of the major components in the PRO-6 Focused Police Operations,” he said.
The region’s top cop said they would sustain their campaign against wanted persons.
“We will intensify our manhunt operations to arrest them and hold them accountable for the crimes they committed,” Pamuspusan said.
