Widely recognized as the most impactful wrestler to ever grace the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE), Terry Bollea, popularly known as Hulk Hogan, died at the age of 71, announced on July 25, 2025.
“WWE is saddened to learn legendary WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan has passed away. One of pop culture’s most recognizable figures, Hogan helped WWE achieve global recognition in the 1980s. WWE extends its condolences to Hogan’s family, friends, and fans,” WWE posted on its official social media account.
According to multiple reports, Hogan suffered cardiac arrest in his Florida home and was pronounced dead when he was taken to the hospital.
Hogan began his professional wrestling career in 1977 but transcended into the sport after signing with WWE in 1983.
Little did the wrestling world know that they just witnessed one of the most flamboyant and charismatic wrestlers in the history of the sport.
Known for his pleasing personality on and off the WWE ring, Hogan quickly created a huge fan base that made him one of the most loved wrestlers in the 1980s and the 1990s.
Hogan also drew insane television viewership when he fought against Andre the Giant, The Rock, Randy Savage, Ric Flair, Paul Orndorff, and The Big Boss Man.
After decades of dominating and influencing WWE, Hogan wrapped up his legendary career with 12 World Championships, six from WWE and six from the WCW World Heavyweight Championships.
He was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005 and will go down as one of the most decorated wrestlers. He was a two-time Royal Rumble winner and is the longest-reigning WWE champion from 1984 to 1988.
For WWE co-founder Vince McMahon, Hogan is the greatest WWE Superstar of all time and is a global phenomenon.
Rest in peace, Hulkamania!
