Worker Electrocuted, Two Hurt in Negros Streetlight Mishap

BACOLOD CITY — A 25-year-old laborer was electrocuted and two others were injured during a streetlight installation in Barangay Nabali-an, Himamaylan City, Negros Occidental, on Thursday.

Police identified the fatality only as “Jude,” a resident of the same barangay.

Injured were his 18-year-old relative, “Kier,” and 42-year-old co-worker, “Joaquin.”

Police Lt. Col. Anthony Grande, Himamaylan City police chief, said the three men were relocating a barangay streetlight post when a wire they were handling accidentally touched live power lines owned by an electric utility company.

The group had been working on the newly installed solar-powered streetlights at the time of the accident.

Jude was rushed to a hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Kier and Joaquin were also brought to a hospital and are in stable condition, police said.

Man Found Dead in Hinigaran

A 29-year-old man was found dead with a stab wound in Crossing Bolobito-on, Barangay Miranda, Hinigaran town, at midnight Friday.

Police said the victim sustained an injury to the left side of his abdomen.

An investigation is ongoing to determine the motive and identify the suspect.
