Woman who tried to hang self rescued

ROXAS CITY, Capiz A woman who attempted to hang herself on a tree was rescued by authorities at Sitio Manggahan, Barangay Poblacion, President Roxas, Capiz.
According to Punong Barangay Jeffry Dela Cruz, the residents were alarmed after Rhea (not her real name) climbed up a “kamansi” tree.
The woman, who was crying, tied a nylon cord around her neck then tied the other end to a branch.
Village officials and a team from the President Roxas Municipal Fire Station and Active Lutod-lutod Response Team (ALERT) responded to the call for assistance.
The rescuers climbed up the tree and brought her down. She was rushed to a hospital after learning that she swallowed a still unidentified type of medicine before climbing up the tree.
Authorities have yet to know the reason behind the suicide attempt.
