A 29-year-old woman wanted for carnapping was arrested on the evening of Jan. 9 in Balasan, Iloilo.
Police officers from the Balasan Municipal Police Station apprehended the suspect, identified as alias “Nor,” at her residence in Barangay Lawis, Balasan.
The arrest was made under a warrant issued by the Regional Trial Court in Roxas City, Capiz, on Jan. 2, 2025, for violating Section 3 of Republic Act 10883, or the New Anti-Carnapping Law.
The court recommended a PHP 300,000 bail for her temporary release.
Nor is listed as the eighth most wanted person in Western Visayas.
According to Major Rolando Araño, spokesperson for the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO), the suspect was involved in a motorcycle carnapping incident in Dumarao, Capiz, in September 2023.
Araño said Nor and her partner, identified as Raymond, carried out their crimes by scouting random locations.
Upon finding unattended motorcycles, Raymond would commandeer the vehicle, while Nor followed on their own motorcycle.
Raymond was arrested in September 2024 after a police hot pursuit operation in San Dionisio, Iloilo.
Authorities are verifying if Nor has other outstanding warrants in different areas, Araño added.
