A woman and her uncle were arrested in a police anti-narcotics operation on the morning of Sept. 19 in Arevalo, Iloilo City.
Alias Babe, 24, and alias Kim, 41, both residents of Barangay East Baluarte, Molo, were arrested in a buy-bust operation at a roadside in Barangay San Jose, Arevalo, around 9 a.m. Friday.
The duo allegedly sold a sachet of suspected shabu for PHP 15,000 to a police poseur buyer.
Members of the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU) 6 seized more sachets of suspected illegal drugs weighing 160 grams and valued at PHP 1.3 million from the suspects.
During the operation, police also apprehended Babe’s cousins, alias Louie, 18, a Grade 12 student, and his sibling alias AA, 17, a Grade 10 student.
They were arrested for being present during the drug transaction.
Police also rescued a four-year-old child who was with the group during the buy-bust operation.
According to Maj. Marvin Villanueva, RPDEU-6 deputy chief, Babe and Kim are considered high-value drug personalities.
They have reportedly been distributing illegal drugs in Arevalo and other areas of Iloilo province.
The suspects allegedly sourced their supply from a contact inside the New Bilibid Prison.
The two were arrested after a two-month surveillance operation and are said to have a relative incarcerated at the same prison facility.
Babe, Kim, and Louie are now detained, while AA was turned over to the Iloilo City Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO).
Charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, will be filed against them.
