A female employee of the Malay local government was shot and killed inside her home in Barangay Sambiray, Malay, Aklan, on the evening of January 4.
The victim, 50-year-old Analisa Torres, was with her 18-year-old daughter preparing dinner when a masked man knocked on their door.
The man reportedly asked for directions to the home of a woman named Alma. Torres kindly pointed him in the right direction.
About 10 minutes later, the man returned, knocked again, and shot Torres multiple times in the head, chest, and shoulder when she opened the door.
Torres was rushed to the Malay Municipal Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.
The suspect fled on a motorcycle heading toward Buruanga town.
Captain Joey Castillon, chief of Malay PCP 4, said authorities are still investigating the case.
“We are gathering evidence and testimonies to identify any person of interest,” Castillon said.
Police have yet to establish a motive, as initial findings suggest the killing was not work-related.
“Kasi parang hindi naman work-related. While she worked at the Assessor’s Office, her duty was clerical in nature,” Castillon said.
Torres’ family said they were unaware of any enemies or threats against her before the incident.
The investigation remains ongoing.
