BACOLOD City – The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG)-Bacolod arrested a woman in an entrapment operation for allegedly selling overpriced alcohol at Barangay Poblacion, Talisay City, Negros Occidental on Thursday.
Police Chief Master Sergeant Ramiro Gocotano, officer-in-charge of CIDG-Bacolod, identified the suspect as Gleneah Joyce Gariando, 25, of the said city, an online seller.
Gocotano said they were supposed to target the big supplier of overpriced alcohol here when they busted the said suspect through another online seller.
Police operatives seized from her the P100 marked money, 14,500 boodle money, 10 containers filled with 60,000 mL alcohol, and another container of 20-liter alcohol sold at P200 per liter, contrary to the P148.50 per liter suggested retail price (SRP) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).
Gocotano said that a total of 80,000 mL, or 80 liters of alcohol, was recovered worth P11,880 per DTI pricing.
He said the suspect has been engaging in the selling of the item for more than a week now amid the necessity for alcohol in the height of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic.
Charges for violation of Republic Act 7581 or The Price Act are being readied against Gariando.
