BACOLOD City – A woman suffered minor injuries after she was allegedly robbed at knifepoint near an elementary school at Barangay Alijis here early Tuesday morning.
Police Major Sherlock Gabana, head of Police Station 7, said the 24-year-old victim, whose name was withheld, was walking on her way home around 12:35 a.m. when suspect Rhino Cordova, 24, of Barangay Bata allegedly pointed a knife at her neck and declared the hold-up.
Cordova allegedly took her cellular phone, and fled. However, policemen who were members of the beat patrol assigned near the area chased the suspect and cornered him.
Cordova was positively identified by the victim, who is mute, Gabana said.
Gabana said police did not recover the stolen item from the suspect because he allegedly disposed of it while escaping.
Cordova, however, yielded an eight-inch knife, which he reportedly used in threatening the victim.
Gabana said they are still checking with other police stations if the suspect has previous criminal record for the same offense.
Robbery hold-up charges will be filed against Cordova, who is detained at the said police station.
