BACOLOD City – Police are probing if there was a foul play or not in the death of a woman in Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental.
Police Lieutenant John Paul Tabujara, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said that the body of a 22-year-old victim of Barangay 1 was found floating in a river in Purok 2, Barangay Linao last Tuesday.
Her remains were identified by a cousin.
Tabujara said that the victim, who was a person with disability, was reported missing since July 12.
She was last seen alive with two women based on a closed-circuit television camera (CCTV) footage.
Tabujara said they considered the victim’s companions as persons of interest, but he did not identify them as the investigation is ongoing.
“We cannot tell yet if there was a crime committed,” he added.
The victim was subjected to autopsy to determine the cause of her death and to check if there was also indication of sexual molestation, he said.
No physical wounds were seen on the victim’s body when found by a resident who lives near the river.
